Welcome to the Highland Substance Awareness Toolkit

This online library provides information in relation to substances in Highland. Topics covered include Tobacco, Alcohol, and Drugs, including New Psychoactive Substances (NPS, previously known as ‘legal highs’), Caffeine, and also information about Blood Borne Viruses (BBV).

Information is categorised by target audience and subject matter. Choose one of the following links to view available resources or use the menu bar to navigate the website. The toolkit also has a search function, and a quick find A-Z of resources, to help you find what you are looking for.

This toolkit has been commissioned by the Highland Alcohol and Drugs Partnership. We are grateful to a variety of organisations who have allowed us to link to their work. This resource has been produced with the support of the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Substance Misuse Working Group (NHSGGC) and is based on the resource collection of the NHSGGC Substance Misuse Toolkit. For more information, see our terms of use.

Substance Aware School Award

The Substance Aware School (SAS) Award has been developed to recognise and reward consistent, ongoing approaches to prevent substance use among young people across the Highlands. This initiative is a joint partnership between the Highland Alcohol and Drugs Partnership (HADP), Highland Child Protection Committee, the Highland Council, NHS Highland, and Police Scotland.

A rear shot of a female teenager with long hair who is walking in a park, is flanked either side by her parents/guardians who each have an arm around her. She has her arms around each of them too.

Parents and Carers

A group of young people are seated in a circle discussing something with a teacher/mentor. The photo is taken slightly above so the viewer is seeing the tops of their heads and shoulders.

Professionals

Three young people are sitting in a row on a wooden bench. The people on either side of the person in the middle both have open laptops.
