Parents – Tobacco/E-Cigs

This section of the toolkit has tobacco and e-cigarette resources targeted at parents and carers

The harmful effects of tobacco have been known since the mid 1900s. The recent Scottish Government focus has been on discouraging people from starting smoking (prevention), protection (such as from second hand smoke)and helping those who want to stop smoking (cessation). The harmful effects of tobacco underpin all three of these.

Websites:

  • Take it Right Outside – The dangers of second hand smoke – includes a short film about the journey of smoke through the home.
  • Smoke Free Highland – Here you will find all the information you need if you are thinking about stopping smoking, if you are someone who wants to help or encourage someone you know to stop smoking or if you want to make your lifestyle smoke free. Within the site there is also information about Smoke-Free Homes and Smoke-Free Cars and information about What can parents and carers do?
  • Not A Favour – from ASH Scotland, encouraging adults not to buy tobacco for young people
